The HXR-NX100 is an affordable, compact Full HD camera that delivers impressive results. Features include an uncompromisingly large 1.0" sensor, proven and familiar manual controls with three independent manual lens rings and intelligent, fully automatic functions. The HXR-NX100 offers all the professional features you need in a rugged and compact package.


Features:

Breathtaking quality with large 1.0" sensor
The 1.0" Exmor R-CMOS sensor with one chip and 20 megapixels of the HXR-NX100 has approximately the same size as a 16mm film image and is seven times larger than three 1/4.7" sensors combined. As more light falls on the sensor, there is less noise and blur, so the image remains clear and even in a dark scene. The minimum illumination is 1.7 lux. The large sensor also delivers beautiful background blur (bokeh), allowing the user to concentrate on what he wants to show and put everything else in the blurry background.


Sony G Lens with maximum 48x zoom
A fixed 29mm wide-angle lens with 12x optical zoom allows you to capture even the most expansive landscape scenes with excellent image sharpness. The performance of the HXR-NX100's large 1.0" sensor is exploited to the full. The G Lens is part of Sony's in-house range of camera lenses and has been designed and manufactured to the highest optical performance standards. With Sony's advanced Clear Image Zoom, you can get up close and personal with even the most distant scenes. Once you have reached maximum optical magnification (12x), Pixel Super Resolution technology allows you to enlarge the image by an additional 200% without compromising image quality. With a Digital Extender, the zoom performance can also be doubled up to 48x.


Manual controls in a professional, handy design
The HXR-NX100 has an ergonomic design with low weight and high user-friendliness. Three manual, independent lens rings allow even, natural adjustment of focus, zoom and iris control. This functionality can also be used in fully automatic mode or fully manually for maximum creative control. The manual rotary knob and buttons on the side of the body allow quick and easy adjustment of aperture, GAIN/values and shutter speed. White balance can be easily adjusted by color temperature in convenient 100K increments.


Multi-format recording in DV, AVCHD and XAVC S at 50 Mbps
The HXR-NX100 is designed for the ultimate in Full HD production performance and supports proven older workflows such as AVCHD and DV as well as the new, more advanced XAVC S at 50 Mbps. XAVC S delivers impressive image quality, workflow flexibility and storage efficiency. For XAVC S, the HXR-NX100 uses the MP4 format with 50 Mbps sampling, which is already supported by all major nonlinear editing (NLE) systems. Compared to AVCHD, XAVC S offers a higher bit rate at 50 Mbps, capturing more detail and less noise. Depending on the region, separate models are available with recording frame rates of 50p, 50i 25p Full HD and 50i SD (PAL model), or 60p, 60i, 30p, 24p Full HD and 60i SD (NTSC model).


Two media slots for more recording flexibility
To extend recording time and workflow flexibility, the HXR-NX100 has two memory card slots and is compatible with the Memory Stick PRO Duo (Mark 2) and Memory Stick PRO-HG Duo in addition to SDXC and SDHC cards. In RELAY mode, recording is automatically switched from the first to the second memory card when the first memory card is full, while in SIMUL mode, simultaneous recording to two memory cards is possible (for example, to create an instant backup version). When recording in simultaneous mode, the HXR-NX100's two start/stop buttons on the handle, handle and camcorder body allow you to start and stop recording independently on different memory cards.


High-resolution LCD and EVF
The HXR-NX100 has an electronic 0.24" viewfinder and an easily adjustable and fold-out 3.5" LCD. Both offer a high resolution of 1,550,000 pixels, enabling precise viewing with low latency for all shots.


MI accessory shoe (Multi Interface)
The HXR-NX100 uses Sony's flexible MI (Multi-Interface) shoe, which provides power, signal connections and coordinated on/off to compatible Sony accessories. For example, you can use Sony wireless microphone systems.
