Universal stripper for fiber optic cables

NT-0105 is a fiber optic stripper – an essential installation tool for preparing ends in installations where clean and repeatable removal of protective layers is important. This stripper is used to remove successive layers: jacket/outer sheath, insulation (buffer), and thin protective coating on the fiber itself. This makes it easier to splice fiber optic cables, prepare sections for splicing, and build and adjust pigtails in service or FTTH installations.

It is a universal solution for installation teams, maintenance and service departments (including electronic/telecommunications), where fiber optic cable preparation must be quick and safe — simply a tool that should be in every installer's bag.

Tri-hole fiber optic stripper for coating and insulation

In the NT-0105 model, the tool has a tri-hole design and features three holes (i.e., 3 holes) with precisely selected diameters. Each hole is responsible for a different stage of preparation in order to remove successive layers as securely and evenly as possible:

  • Removing PVC coating/sheath 2-3mm – for working on cables with a diameter of 2-3mm (up to 3mm) and initial preparation of the section when it is necessary to cut and expose further layers.
  • Buffer removal (900µm) – hole for removing the buffer, i.e., the 900µm buffer (900 µm / 900) in tight-buffer cables and many patch cords.
  • Varnish removal (250µm) – a hole for removing the protective layer from fibers with a diameter of 250µm, down to the 125µm glass level.

Precision is key: the stripper must guide the blade so that it removes the layers “cleanly,” without damaging the core or scratching the glass, which is particularly important before splicing and when working on short sections of optical fibers. This 3-hole arrangement is known, among others, from the popular CFS-3 (tri-hole) design used for stripping 2–3 mm, 900 µm, and 250 µm.

In field work, it is not only the diameter and coating that matter, but also ergonomics. The NT-0105 is a convenient tool for quick cable handling and fiber preparation in both building installations and loose tube cables (after opening), when it is necessary to precisely remove successive layers.
