SNMP Card for UPS - Expansion for Armac Uninterruptible Power Supplies

The SNMP network card is a communication accessory that extends the capabilities of compatible Armac-Energy UPS devices, providing full real-time management and monitoring from anywhere via a web browser or SNMP manager. With integrated network access, users can schedule UPS shutdowns, startups, or restarts, view basic battery status, and monitor key parameters-all without installing additional software. The solution supports event logs, self-test schedules, email notifications, SNMP traps, and custom alarm thresholds, offering centralized control over the entire uninterruptible power system.

Industrial-Class Modbus 485 Poll/Slave & Modbus TCP/IP Connectivity

  • Modbus RTU (485): The card can operate as Poll (master), allowing it to query up to 8 external sensors/devices, or as Slave, providing UPS parameters to PLC controllers. Modes are switchable but mutually exclusive.
  • Flexible Configuration: Users can set baud rate, parity, device address, and function independently of the mode. In Poll mode, the exact registers to retrieve data from are selectable.
  • Modbus TCP/IP Protocol: Encapsulates RTU frames in Ethernet packets (port 502, changeable), enabling remote access to UPS parameters where a direct physical connection is not feasible. This allows connection to end devices using Modbus TCP/IP or to devices requiring a physical port via a TCP/IP-to-RTU converter.

SNMPv1 / SNMPv2c / SNMPv3 Basic - Network Management for Multiple UPS Units

The SNMP agent supports UPS-MIB (RFC1628) and Armacs private enterprise implementation (PPC), enabling comprehensive monitoring of UPS devices and environmental sensors (EMD) connected by the user. SNMP TRAP allows automatic notifications of alarms in v1 and v2c, while a simple web-based UPS control panel provides basic commands (10 s test, bypass on/off, buzzer off). SNMP v3 provides basic login authentication with username and password.

Importantly, all Armac UPS systems are equipped with overload protection. If the UPS is overloaded during normal operation, it safely disconnects the connected devices, enhancing both safety and user convenience.

Compliance with RFC 1628 UPS-MIB

RFC1628 defines a standardized set of objects (OIDs)-covering UPS states, operational parameters, battery status, alarms, and tests. The Armac card supports all critical OIDs and extends default resolution, providing values with decimals (mV, 0.1 Hz, 0.01°C) for precise monitoring of load and temperature without additional PPC implementation.

SMTP with SSL, NTP, and DNS - Secure Notifications

  • MTP (TLS/SSL, STARTTLS): Sends alerts to multiple email accounts with authentication.
  • NTP: Automatic time synchronization ensures SNMP and CSV logs have consistent timestamps across devices.
  • DNS: Hostname resolution.

Other Features and Functionalities

  • Wake On LAN: Remote server/PC power-on after power restoration or UPS battery operation.
  • Task Scheduler: Cyclical UPS on/off, battery tests, and calibrations.
  • Configurable Alarm Thresholds: Voltage, temperature, humidity, and battery runtime.
  • Remote Command Execution: Allows control of any device using SSH or Telnet, without extra software, e.g., shutting down a server or running a user-defined script. The SNMP card executes dedicated commands for each event type.
  • Event and Parameter Logging: Exportable in CSV via a persistent link.
  • Easy Firmware Updates: Via web interface.
