A Modernized, Multi-Role Variant of a French Legend
In the mid-1970s, Dassault Aviation began development of a new fighter aircraft intended to replace earlier designs within the Mirage family. Drawing upon the experience gained during the design of the Mirage III and Mirage 5 models, engineers created an entirely new airframe known as the Mirage 2000.

The aircraft retained the distinctive delta wing configuration, which was further refined through the implementation of a computerized fly-by-wire control system. The Mirage 2000 prototype made its maiden flight on March 10, 1978, and in 1984, the first squadron entered operational service.

The Mirage 2000-5 is a thoroughly modernized multi-role variant, equipped with the RDY radar, capable of employing MICA IR/RF missiles and featuring the advanced Thales Topsight helmet-mounted display.
