The Steiner Commander comes with the same open-bridge design as the smaller Navigator series. With the new open-bridge construction the binoculars can be easily grasped and held with one hand and makes handling on deck much easier. Just like previous models the new series features the legendary Steiner robustness, making this model perfect for the toughest marine conditions. The further developed NBR long-life rubber armouring and coating offers a significantly improved grip and slip resistance which makes handling more comfortable. Thanks to its powerful construction, the binoculars are waterproof down to a depth of 10m.With a 50mm objective diameter and 7x magnification, the Commander provides a calm view even in rough seas. Thanks to Steiner’s unique Diamond Marine coating that uses a mix of rare fluoride and other minerals lenses produces a bright image with unequalled light transmission, clarity and contrast even in low light conditionsA hydrophobic front lens coating creates a lens surface that protects against dirt and water. Even rain and snow quickly form droplets that disappear from the field of view.The Steiner Commander comes in two versions, one with compass and one without. A compass ensures fast, precise and reliable bearings. The compass is covered and protected by the NBR long life rubber armouring and compass needle is able to react quickly thanks to sophisticated liquid dampening. A optimised positioning of the on/off switch means you don’t have to move your hand to switch the illumination on and off, leaving you with fast and easy handling without needing to let go of the binocular.The eyecups come with individual dioptre adjustment and keeps images razor-sharp from 20 metres to infinity once set. The eyecups are also ergonomically designed, allowing an optimised distance to the exit pupil and providing comfortable use of the entire field of view of 140m.
