Three technologies in one device

Unlike standard motion sensors, SwitchBot uses an advanced 3-in-1 system that combines a light sensor to detect ambient light levels, a PIR sensor for quick motion detection, and mmWave radar for presence detection. This combination significantly increases speed and accuracy, as the device is not limited to merely detecting motion but can also recognize the presence of a person standing still. The sensor even detects the chest movements of a stationary person, making it ideal for use while bathing, working at a desk, resting, or reading. In practice, this means no more situations where the light turns off simply because you haven’t moved for a moment.

No more unwanted light shutdowns

One of the biggest advantages of the SwitchBot presence sensor is its ability to distinguish between ordinary movement and the presence of a person in the room. This is particularly important in places where you often stay without making major movements, such as the bathroom, home office, bedroom, or living room. Thanks to mmWave technology supported by PIR and a light sensor, the system can keep the lights on or activate specific devices exactly when needed. Instead of annoying interruptions and accidental lights turning off, you get a more natural, convenient, and smart operation of the entire space.

Wide range and more complete room coverage

SwitchBot offers detection at a wide 120° angle, allowing you to cover a larger area without the need for complicated installation planning. The detection range for moving people is up to 8 meters, and for stationary people up to 5 meters, allowing the device to work effectively in both smaller rooms and more open areas of the home. These parameters enable the sensor to provide full coverage of spaces from the bathroom to the living room, meeting the needs of various usage scenarios. Whether it’s controlling the light at the entrance, supporting remote work comfort, or ensuring convenience during daily activities, it operates reliably and precisely.

A battery that offers installation freedom

The well-thought-out battery design allows you to place the sensor exactly where it will be most effective, without the limitations of having to run a power cord. You can mount it on a bookshelf, desk, or metal shelf using a strong magnetic mount, and thanks to its IPX5 rating, it can also be safely used in the bathroom. The device is equipped with an energy-efficient mmWave radar with ultra-low power consumption, allowing it to operate for up to 2 years on a single battery change. This solution simplifies installation, enhances the convenience of daily use, and allows you to easily move the sensor between rooms if your needs change.

Magnetic base and flexible installation

SwitchBot features a magnetic base that offers great freedom in positioning the device. You can place the sensor flat, mount it on the wall, and adjust its detection angle to better adapt its operation to a specific interior. This flexibility makes it easy to adapt the detection zone to the conditions in your bathroom, living room, home office, or other rooms in your home. Adjusting the detection area also helps reduce accidental activations and allows you to better utilize the sensor’s full potential in everyday automations.

Quick automations without a hub

The SwitchBot Presence Sensor is designed to enable instant device-to-device automation without the need for a hub. This means lightning-fast response times—measured in seconds—and convenient creation of simple local scenarios. The sensor can work directly with selected SwitchBot devices, and you can configure it for up to 2 automations, which is more than enough for many everyday applications. If you need more advanced automations involving multiple devices simultaneously, the sensor can work with the SwitchBot Hub. This combination opens the door to creating more complex scenes, such as automatically turning on the lights and air purifier while working from home.

Fewer false alarms, greater effectiveness

SwitchBot offers an AI self-learning feature that can be activated with a single click to automatically filter out interference caused by fans, air conditioners, and other sources of movement unrelated to human presence. This is an important feature that improves detection accuracy and reduces the number of unnecessary automation triggers. Combined with the ability to rotate the sensor and adjust the detection area, the magnetic base also helps you better control the device’s coverage zone and more effectively avoid false triggers caused by pets. This allows the sensor to be adapted to a wide variety of living conditions and the specific layout of any interior.

Compatibility with popular smart home platforms

The SwitchBot presence sensor supports Matter and works with Alexa, Google Home, Home Assistant, and SmartThings, making it easy to integrate into your existing smart home system. Apple Home support is available via the SwitchBot Matter Hub, offering even greater flexibility for users of the Apple ecosystem. Additionally, SwitchBot keeps data local, without cloud storage or recording. This is particularly important in rooms such as the bathroom, bedroom, or home office, where the convenience of smart solutions should go hand in hand with a sense of privacy.
